The Cancer Sell Concept & Information

A top London gallery will be presenting an exhibition by young progressive artists who represent a multitude of talents in the urban street art scene. All art has been generously donated by artists to help raised monies for the charities. CANCER SELL has also been created to help progressive global urban street artists to form a connection between local people by allowing them to display their chosen donation in a formal display setting.

History and why

My Mother was diagnosed in November 2006 with Breast Cancer and over the course of early 2007 had to battle with Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy treatment. Whilst she was never diagnosed as terminal by her Specialist, towards June 2007 her health deteriorated and she was admitted to The Florence Nightingale Hospice in Stoke Mandeville to allow her life's journey to come to an end with dignity. The cancer had spread to her limbs, back, hips, lungs and finally her brain.

Within hours of being admitted to the Hospice the Nurses and Doctors gave her the best of care without intruding into the family fold. They answered questions honestly and helped family members attend to their loved one. The emotional support that was shown to the family was tremendous and finally my mother passed away on June 18th 2007.

Whilst the family still comes to terms with her death, the only way we can cope is to give back something to the Hospice. The Hospice requires over £450k per year to run and keep their current commitments, this is found by donations as it is not funded by the local NHS. The monies raised allows families and patients respite, day and palliative care.

To show my gratitude for the dedication and compassion given to my mother and my family by the Florence Nightingale Hospice and the untiring efforts of Cancer Research in trying to combat this voracious disease, I now want to repay their efforts by organising a charity fundraising event, which will be held at a top London gallery. The money raised on the night will be split evenly between Cancer Research (Registered Charity Number: 1089464) and The Florence Nightingale Hospice, Buckinghamshire (Registered Charity Number: 1119499).
